21-Year-Old Builds Amazing Rally Car in a Barn

|

Updated on

Please meet Alex Kelsey, a 21-year-old kid from New Zealand who built his own rally car in just under two years. Even though he is dyslexic and suffered in school, you can see the great attention to detail with this build from the ground up. He wanted a car that looked good, sounded good and was cheap and easy to maintain. That lead him to the affordable Peugeot 207 body and chassis, powered by a V6 powerplant from a Formula Renault race car.

Alex custom welded everything from the suspension to the chassis, and even did the carbon fiber work himself, noting that the built proof material is a must when rally racing due to its strength. Once the car was completed it blew away our expectations with a 0-200 km/h or 0-124 mph sprint time of just 7 seconds. With his first project, a modified Subaru, the youngster won a round at the New Zealand Rally Championship, making him the first to do this at his age. Check out the video blow and let us know what you think of feat.
