The guys at Speedhunters teamed up the KW suspension experts to create this 86X drift car based on the Toyota GT-86. (Also know as the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S depending on where you live) It recently participated in the Gatebil drift competition in Norway and plans to tour Europe while being driven by Fredric Aasbø. To get this car competition ready, the guys had to completely swap out the factory engine with a larger 2JZ-GTE sourced from a Toyota Supra.
For the Toyota 86 performance tuning, there are two power options available under the hood. The first of the 2JZ will produce 640 horsepower, while the larger bored 3.4-liter puts down 800 HP to go along with 737 lb-ft of torque. To handle all this power a new ACT (Advanced Clutch Technology) custom flywheel as well as an ACT triple disc race clutch were installed. A four-speed transmission from Mid Valley transfers all the power to the rear axle that was built by The Drivershaft Shop.
Of course a KW suspension kit was installed along with other drift-ready components, but it didn’t stop there. For the styling modifications, a TRA Kyoto 6666 Customs GT Rodeo Special Rocket Bunny wide bodykit fender conversion kit was used to widen the stance. Finally, the paintwork for the Toyota 86X drift car was performed by Ås Technical University.
