The Volkswagen Golf R is the latest car to receive an upgrade package from the tuning company Wimmer RS. Dubbed the Red Devil, this kit adds and impressive power boost to the Golf. Modifications begin with an ECU upgrade, re-fitted turbochargers and piping, custom injection nozzles, TFSI tuning, and aftermarket connecting rods. The list of custom work continues with new lamp coating, cylinder heads, larger intercooler, oil cooler, new intake system, additional oil pump, and an improved crankshaft. But wait, there’s still more for the VW Golf R. The Wimmer RS engineers installed a second low pressure fuel pump, sport camshafts, and a handmade stainless steel exhaust system with a sport catalyst converter.
All these aftermarket parts result in the Wimmer RS VW Golf R producing 478 hp and 610 Nm of torque to make it a true sports car. These impressive power figures are still obtained from the Volkswagen 2.0-liter TFSI engine, and the power to weight ratio of 3.04 kg/hp gives it super car performance. Wimmer did not release the short track distance times, however the announced top speed was electronically limited to 291 km/h. Because this custom VW Golf R has over 200 horsepower more than the stock model, the car tuners at Wimmer hooked it up with a new suspension kit and high performance brakes to handle the power.
