Sport-Wheels VW Golf 6 R

|

Updated on

Here is the latest project from the Hurth-based tuning specialist Sport-Wheels on the VW Golf 6 R. At first, it sounds like the modified Volkswagen Golf would only receive a new wheel package, but actually there is much more. On the exterior, the powerful new ride was fixed up with a sporty themed graphic foil for added protection from CoverEFX. The rims you see pictured are 20-inch OZ Ultraleggera HLT alloys wrapped in high performance tires. The Golfs suspension setup consists of lower springs with an adjustable high-grade steel thread chassis by KW.

Under the hood of this custom Volkswagen Golf 6 R is a beefed up 2.0-liter TSI powerplant with DSG transmission. The tuners were able to increase the numbers to 330 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque with a few modifications. These staggering numbers for the Golf six were achieved with a smart ECU tuning, hand-made sport exhaust with downpipe, and 200 cell cats with exhaust tips measuring 83 mm in diameter. The figures from Sport-Wheels are quite impressive due to the fact that a stock VW Golf 6 R only produces 270 hp and 350 Nm of torque from the factory.
