Swiss car tuner Rinspeed has modified a Fiat 500 Abarth to get more power and better gas mileage but it won’t do this at the same time. They started from a Fiat 500 that has a standard 135 HP and they developed a new engine management system that has one mode for the city and one for the highway. The “E2” system will reduce the engine’s output from 160 HP to 60 HP with one touch of a button. The 60 HP mode is suitable for city traffic and will help the tiny Fiat achieve a 4.0L/100 km fuel usage while the 160 HP highway mode will use 7L/100 km. Rinspeed is one of the first tuners that makes something to reduce the car’s fuel consumption and in the Highway mode their car will get the same HP number as the Fiat 500 Abarth SS.
Since the number of people who want to use our energy supply responsibly is quickly growing, an engine tweak like one made by Rinspeed would be a good trick to make any car better. The Swiss tuner will come with their Fiat 500 Abarth E2 at the Geneva Motor Show.
