Motoren Technik Mayer (MTM) has created an exclusive tuning program for the VW Golf GTI VI to prepare for its new rival the Golf R coming soon. The Volkswagen Golf VI GTI is their icon of the sports car, but it needed more power to compete with the upcoming Golf R. So MTM refined the Golf hatchback with a boosted engine, new wheels, and a brake kit. On all fours are matte black MTM Bimoto light alloy rims wrapped in Continental XL Sportcont tires measuring 235/35/19 in size. Under the hood MTM performed some ECU tuning and added an additional air filter for the VW Golf GTI that increased the engines performance to a maximum of 270 bhp with 400 Nm of torque.
To slow down the extra power created from the engine tuning, Motoren Technik Mayer installed a Brembo brake kit consisting of 8-piston calipers, and 380 mm brake discs. It’s too bad they had to electronically limit the top speed of the Volkswagen Golf GTI to 265 km/h, because with that amount of power, and being the lightweight hatchback it is, we know it could top out close to 300 km/h. I bet there is a way to get around the limiter, but as of right now that information nor the prices for the upgrades have been released.
Golf GTI looks kinda nice. But I just can’t understand why maker has to limit top speed…tsk tsk tsk…
