Several popular tuners have released their concept images of packages for the all new 2014 Volkswagen Golf. These include ABT Sportsline, MTM and Oettinger offering unique styling and performance upgrades. Starting off with ABT, they have put together a complete kit featuring a front apron, grille, light accents, mirror covers, side skirts, rear apron and integrated diffuser. VW T5 Transporter Doubleback Is A Great Idea
With the popularity of the VW Transporter T5 vans, we knew it would only be a matter of time before someone came up with a great idea. British company Doubleback has put this VW T5 into production that turns it into a mini motor home. With the press of a button, the rear slides out and nearly doubles the interior space. An elevating rooftop gives you the room to stand inside, while a kitchen area holds a 50-liter fridge with icebox. The only thing holding back this VW Transporter Doubleback is the expensive price tag.
ABT VW Beetle
It is now time to prepare for the VW Beetle tuning wars as ABT Sportsline has just released some images of their initial renderings. Last month we saw some styling improvements from the Volkswagen enthusiast website VWVortex, and now we have the “Speedle” version from ABT. They will have several performance kits available for the VW Beetle, produing 140 HP for the 1.2 TSI engine, 210 HP for the 1.4 TSI, and 240 horsepower for the flagship 2.0 TSI powerplant. Diesel models will range from 125-170 HP, however the VW tuners are still manufacturing the parts and won’t be in customer hands until September.
Wimmer RS VW Golf R
The Volkswagen Golf R is the latest car to receive an upgrade package from the tuning company Wimmer RS. Dubbed the Red Devil, this kit adds and impressive power boost to the Golf. Modifications begin with an ECU upgrade, re-fitted turbochargers and piping, custom injection nozzles, TFSI tuning, and aftermarket connecting rods. The list of custom work continues with new lamp coating, cylinder heads, larger intercooler, oil cooler, new intake system, additional oil pump, and an improved crankshaft. But wait, there’s still more for the VW Golf R. The Wimmer RS engineers installed a second low pressure fuel pump, sport camshafts, and a handmade stainless steel exhaust system with a sport catalyst converter.
MTE VW Golf IV R32
The VW Golf IV R32 is an older model loved by many as the perfect tuning project. With a sure surplus of fans, this car has been one many have pushed to gain every ounce of power. The latest in the challenge, the German tuning specialist MTE, gave their Golf R32 IV a mean military-themed camouflage look to fit their BiTurbo2. With the stock R32, you might expect a 3.2-liter V6 pushing 241bhp with 320Nm (236 lb-ft) torque. After the tuning team over at MTE made a few upgrades and adjustments, they were able to achieve 790hp and 1,200Nm (885lb-ft) out of the Volkswagen Golf. That’s about 500hp more than MTE’s BiTurbo1. How you might ask?
Sport-Wheels VW Golf 6 R
Here is the latest project from the Hurth-based tuning specialist Sport-Wheels on the VW Golf 6 R. At first, it sounds like the modified Volkswagen Golf would only receive a new wheel package, but actually there is much more. On the exterior, the powerful new ride was fixed up with a sporty themed graphic foil for added protection from CoverEFX. The rims you see pictured are 20-inch OZ Ultraleggera HLT alloys wrapped in high performance tires. The Golfs suspension setup consists of lower springs with an adjustable high-grade steel thread chassis by KW.
RevoZport Volkswagen Golf VI GTI RZR
A new styling kit for the Volkswagen Golf VI GTI has been released by RevoZport, called the RZR package. It should be available around February 2010 from the company who specialize in producing carbon fiber and special composite material products. Several other cars that RevoZport customizes include BMW, Lotus, Ferrari, and Mercedes. The latest tuning kit for the VW Golf VI GTI includes a new front bumper with LED lights, front splitter, vented bonnet, side skirts, fender flares, rear bumper, and a spoiler extending from the roof.
JMS VW Scirocco
The unique VW Scirocco has been modified by car tuning, and Volkswagen specialists JMS. They were able to customize this Volkswagen Scirocco with several exterior improvements to give it a stellar look. The first addition to the Scirocco is an aftermarket coil over kit from H&R that lowers the front 55 mm, rear 45 mm, and costs 1,069 Euros. This suspension setup not only improves the sports car look, however it enhances the handling and driving dynamics as well. Factory VW Scirocco wheels were traded out with larger 19×8.5 rims in the front, 19×9.5 in the rear, with tires measuring 225/35/R19, and 255/30/R19 respectively. Aiming for the unique and perfect sounding sports car, JMS installed a stainless steel muffler from Eisenmann Exhaust Systems, which also improves the performance numbers.
