Michelin has sent us this behind the scenes look of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race which will start tomorrow, June 16th and last until the 17th. They have paired up with the Audi team and their experience of the early morning warm up hours through the final few hours. Most people think this race is just 24 hours long, but is actually much more than that.
Audi race engineer Kyle Wilson-Clarke said, “It’s a long one for the car but it’s a long one for the crew as well!” All the crews begin the first day very early in the morning around 6am to prepare for the 9am warm-up run. Even though the race doesn’t begin until 3pm, this means the teams have already had a full day of work before it even starts.
You will also meet Leena Gade, a race engineer for the Audi R18 TDI, who talks about leading the team and the important check-ups that occur throughout the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a grueling two days, basically a full Formula One season compressed into one weekend said the director of Audi motorsport, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
