2011 LA Auto Show: Audi e-tron Spyder

|

Updated on

The new and already popular Audi e-tron Spyder made a special appearance at the 2011 LA Auto Show. This unique sports car is hoping to be on the production line come 2014, and should feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 diesel powerplant with two electric motors. Performance numbers are reported from Audi in the range of 385 horsepower with 739 lb-ft of torque. At the track, a 0 to 60 mph of time will be accomplished in just 4.2 seconds, while the top speed has been limited from the factory at 155 mph. However, what really sets this hybrid apart from the rest is the fuel efficiency.

Besides the great styling with sharp lines, the most amazing detail about the Audi e-tron Spyder is that the gas and electric combinations should be good for 106.92 miles per gallon. Any car that pushes over 100 MPG will be the hottest on the market come 2014, yet Audi needs to work on the price right now, because $2.7 million USD for a small sport car seems a bit steep. Stay tuned for more Audi e-tron Spyder news and check out all of the cars at the 2011 LA Auto Show.
