Keep It Simple Stupid, Here Is The FRZ86

Aftermarket tuners are going above and beyond with whatever you want to call it, the Scion FR-S, Toyota 86 or Subaru BRZ. That is the only problem with this sports car, we’re not sure what manufacturer to classify it under as both Toyota and Subaru have worked on it together. Identical cars from two different companies are rare these days, however it does make the tuning industry stronger since they can all form as one. We’re going to make it simple and call this car the FRZ86 from now on, see what we did there?

SR Auto Group Scion iQ Tune

Monday, February 11th, 2013:

The Canadian tuners at SR Auto Group have released a new version of the Scion iQ that looks much better than their previous Project Pryzm. It features a new Five Axix body kit consisting of a front lip spoiler, custom side skirts, new rear valence and rear spoiler. Addition modifications include a set of lowering springs to go along with the 18-inch Sparco Assetto Gara rims wrapped in high performance tires. Performance tuning was left out, but at least Scion iQ owners now have some choices when it comes to styling.

Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ Ready For SEMA

Scion is ready to rock the SEMA show with several new Scion FR-S models that were part of their Tuner Challenge competition. They have teamed up with Subaru and their BRZ version of the car to put together some interesting modifications. These are just the teasers we have for now, since the Japanese automaker will not reveal any information about the projects until the SEMA curtains drop. Stay tuned for some customized Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ models to sweep across the country.

Speedhunters Toyota 86X Drift Car

Thursday, August 9th, 2012:

The guys at Speedhunters teamed up the KW suspension experts to create this 86X drift car based on the Toyota GT-86. (Also know as the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S depending on where you live) It recently participated in the Gatebil drift competition in Norway and plans to tour Europe while being driven by Fredric Aasbø. To get this car competition ready, the guys had to completely swap out the factory engine with a larger 2JZ-GTE sourced from a Toyota Supra.

Wald Teases Toyota GT 86, Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ

The tuners at Wald International have released a teaser of a new kit for the upcoming Toyota 86 that has taken the world by storm. In the US, this car will be known as the Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, while in Europe it will be called the Toyota GT 86. All in all, this looks to be the hot commodity for tuning enthusiasts and companies worldwide. Wald has released their JDM version for the Toyota 86 with a few teaser photos we have in the this article. You can see the 86 received a new front apron making it more aggressive, new side skirts, fender vents, and a few extras at the rear.

Gazoo Toyota GT-86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ

Ever since the Toyota GT-86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ triplets have been announced to the car world, enthusiasts have complained about their lack of power. Gazoo Racing or GRNM (Gazoo Racing Masters of Nürburgring) have taken this into account since the three automotive manufacturer’s appear to not be doing anything about it. Gazoo has now released this Toyota GT86 called the Sports FR, and it carries both a supercharger and turbocharger. Say what?!

While Toyota is finishing up the FT-86 for production, their Scion brand of cars has released the concept of the new FR-S. Looking pretty good, the car was initially displayed at the New York International Auto Show in April, and now Ken Gushi talks about the styling to bring more hype. He currently drifts a Scion TC in Japan, but as you can tell in the video he will be ditching that car if the Scion FR-S concept goes into production. The second video has the Vice President of Scion, Jack Hollis sounding extremely excited to launch the Scion FR-S. Showcasing the unlimited possibilities available on the aftermarket, the high-end Five Axis Scion tC looks bold with an aggressive appeal. This incredible street look was achieved with a wide body conversion kit adding four inches to both sides, and a unique House of Color custom paint job in Bloodshot red. Furthermore, the custom Scion rides on Tein adjustable coilovers, a TRD big brake kit, and large 20-inch five AD R5:F design alloy wheels wrapped in Yokahama Advan Sport high performance tires.

Do you remember the Ken Block videos drifting his Subaru STi for DC Shoes, and recently acquiring a new Ford Fiesta for the snow drift scene? Well now there is a new competitor on the block, Tanner Foust, in his race built Scion TC. Why they chose a Scion TC for the drift track? Beats me, but it does look good from the exterior, and is definitely spewing out clouds of smoke from the rear wheels. At least it’s not a boxy Scion xB or tiny Scion xA. Right now we just have a teaser video, however a ton of pictures from AutoBlog. They recently announced a new drift series coming in March, which will feature prospect Tanner Foust and his Scion TC taking on the dangerous road, Mulholland Drive in California.
