The tuners at ABT Sportline will unveil a revised Audi R8 aftermarket kit they are calling the GTR at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Not to be confused with the Nissan GTR supercar, this Audi R8 holds a 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine producing 550 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. Customers looking for that extra boost can have their car tuned to 620 HP and 550 Nm of torque with just a few modifications.
Here we have the sporty Audi S8, a version of the Audi A8 series that holds the new 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine. From the factory, this car produces 512 HP and 650 Nm of torque. Plenty for the average driver looking for a high performance luxury car, however ABT Sportsline felt it needed more. Founder Hans-Jürgen Abt quoted below.
“For us, the new AS8 is the best of both worlds, that is, the best in terms of both comfort and acceleration and agility. After all, the AS8 has to meet our premium customers’ standards when it comes to performance and luxuriousness.”
ABT Sportsline has released a new tuning package for the diesel version of the all new Volkswagen Beetle. The German tuners have tweaked the 2.0-liter TDI four cylinder powerplant to now produce 168 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. A plentiful increase from the factory 138 HP and 320 Nm of torque. Results show a new 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.8 seconds, stock time was 9.4 seconds.
The tuners at ABT Sportsline have released a new package for the five-door hatch Audi A1. This comes shortly after the company announced a three-door tuning kit, so they will now have more coverage for the A1 model line. It includes a complete mix of styling and performance parts, several of which we’ll cover right now. On the exterior are some modest improvements including vents in the fenders, side skirt addditions, chrome tailpipes and a new alloy wheel set measuring either 17 or 18-inches.
It is now time to prepare for the VW Beetle tuning wars as ABT Sportsline has just released some images of their initial renderings. Last month we saw some styling improvements from the Volkswagen enthusiast website VWVortex, and now we have the “Speedle” version from ABT. They will have several performance kits available for the VW Beetle, produing 140 HP for the 1.2 TSI engine, 210 HP for the 1.4 TSI, and 240 horsepower for the flagship 2.0 TSI powerplant. Diesel models will range from 125-170 HP, however the VW tuners are still manufacturing the parts and won’t be in customer hands until September.
