Here is the first run Ken Block has ever made in his new Ford Fiesta Rally Car, preparing for the Sno*Drift Rally America Series. Monster released this snow drift video run yesterday when Ken Block was prepping, and the competition starts today. Check out this two and half minute video of Block packing down the icy roads of Gladwin, MI. He hits triple digits in the Ford Fiesta, topping out the six speed transmission on one very long straight away, and drifts around the trees with ease, which is what he’s known for. More information covering the rally race can be found at Rally America. Hit the jump to see the inaugural video run.
Most people tune cars for an increased visual appeal or performance numbers, but Travis Pastrana and the Red Bull team decided to jump a Subaru STirally car sending it flying nearly 250 feet! Not to mention that this crazy idea was done over water with floating barges. Earlier in the week the Red Bull guys and Travis Pastrana got together to practice the stunt in the desert where a few attempts didn’t go as planned. One of the Subaru WRX STi rally cars landed awkwardly on its side and completely crushed the suspension and frame from the devastating impact. Everything was all good however when it came down to New Year’s Eve last night with thousands of people cheering him on as they approached the new year. Check the video for the record destroying 250 foot jump that nearly doubled the previous world record.
Here we have an extreme tuning enthusiasts from the former Soviet Bloc country, supposedly Kazakhstan, that transformed his car to look like a Rolls Royce. We were wondering what car was underneath, if it was possibly a Bently, or Maybach since those are the only cars that come to mind large enough for the transformation. However, if it were either of those two cars, the owner probably wouldn’t need to make a fake Rolls Royce, and could just buy a real one. After close examination, this is a Mercedes E-Class under all the body work, and you can tell from the interior seating, and how the exterior is not as long as a typical Rolls Royce.
After several pictures and a made up story of how this 1.6 million dollar Bugatti Veyron crashed in to a lake, we now have video proof of the accident! The owner, Andy House claimed that he was distracted by a low flying pelican that caused him to crash into the lake. This video shows no evidence of a pelican, and an updated report claims that he had dropped his cell phone. Hmm…the whole story is ironic because Andy House owns Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin, Texas and the company specializes in repair and restore of crashed exotics! Is it possible he did it on purpose for some extra promotion of his company? I highly doubt it since the Bugatti Veyron is one of the most expensive cars in the world. Hit the jump for the video and aftermath pictures.
American based car tuning company Switzer Performance has modified the Porsche 911 GT2 turbo to output 800 horsepower and receives the name P800 997 Twin Turbo. Even though the stock numbers are plenty at 480 hp and 457 ft-lbs of torque, Tim Switzer decided it was not enough and extensively customized the Porsche 911 GT2 or 977 turbo. Now, how do you accomplish 800 AWD horsepower out of a Porsche, you add not one, but two GT30 turbochargers, monster intercoolers, electronic boost control, fancy headers, custom exhaust, and a carbon clutch package. The new performance numbers allow the Switzer Performance P800 997 Twin Turbo to accomplish 0-60 mph in less than three seconds, and the quarter mile time is just barely over 10 seconds. Pricing has not yet been released, but you can be assured that no one will mistake you for a Mustang with this beast.
