ABT, MTM and Oettinger Take on the 2014 Volkswagen Golf

Several popular tuners have released their concept images of packages for the all new 2014 Volkswagen Golf. These include ABT Sportsline, MTM and Oettinger offering unique styling and performance upgrades. Starting off with ABT, they have put together a complete kit featuring a front apron, grille, light accents, mirror covers, side skirts, rear apron and integrated diffuser. Tuning under the hood came next, but don’t forget that these new Golf engines are severely underpowered from the factory.

The lowest of low is the 1.2-liter TSI petrol engine that produces 84 horsepower, and then you have the 1.4-liter powerplant that performs a little better at 138 HP stock. After the ECU optimization, the 84 HP was increased to 104 HP, while the 138 HP jumps up to 163 HP. Now the diesel engines are where the power starts to kick in. The 1.6-liter TDI diesel was boosted from 104 to 123 horses, while the 2.0-liter TDI diesel now puts down 178 HP, up from the factory 148 horsepower.

The tuners at MTM put together a modest styling package that features a new rear apron and wheel package, but that’s about it. They said a new power kit is in development, however we did not receive the specifications for that. Oettinger revealed a few more aftermarket parts, mostly this aggressive body kit. It showcases new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear diffuser, roof spoiler and a GTI similar front grille. They also have wheel packages available, and a performance kit for the 1.4-liter TSI that is stated to increase output to around 250 horsepower.

It’s good to see tuning companies get an early start on the all new 2014 Volkswagen Golf, since we are sure it will be top seller worldwide over the next several years.
